What is the “Bee Woman” project?

The “Bee Woman” project is a Small-scale partnerships VET project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
The project aims to support migrant women — especially survivors of trafficking — by providing vocational training in beekeeping and entrepreneurial skills. Through practical and theoretical training, participants will get familiar with the world of beekeeping and the possibilities it offers. The project also promotes social and economic integration by encouraging women to start their own beekeeping businesses.

What is a Small-scale partnerships VET?

Small-scale Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training (VET) are part of the Erasmus+ programme and aim to support local and international cooperation among organizations working in vocational education. These projects focus on inclusion, capacity building, and innovation, providing flexible learning opportunities for individuals who may face social or economic challenges.

Which organizations are part of the Bee Woman project?

The project is managed by three organizations, settled in three different European countries:

  • HRYO – Human Rights Youth Organization is a non-profit organization based in Palermo, Italy, founded in 2009. It focuses on human rights, social inclusion, and sustainability.
HRYO has extensive experience in European-funded projects and has worked with vulnerable groups, including refugees and survivors of trafficking. The organization believes in education as a tool for empowerment and implements projects that foster social cohesion and economic independence. HRYO plays a central role in Bee Woman by coordinating activities, developing training programs, and ensuring that the project aligns with the needs of migrant women in Palermo.
  • Biderbost, Boscan & Rochin SL is a social enterprise based in Salamanca, Spain, and specialized in social innovation, youth empowerment, and vocational training. It provides technical support, mentoring, and networking opportunities for participants, ensuring that the training is tailored to their needs.
  • Cinergies is a Greek social cooperative founded in mid-2016, whose purpose is to create and support alternative narratives to foster equitable and sustainable pathways. It has expertise in media production, community engagement, and education. Cinergies is mostly responsible for developing the project’s digital learning platform and supporting communication strategies to enhance outreach and engagement.

What activities are going to be implemented?

The Bee Woman project seeks to implement the following key activities:

  • Five Sustainability Workshops (June – October 2025)
Each partner organization country will organize five local workshops to introduce participants to beekeeping, environmental sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
  • One International Meeting in Palermo (January – March 2026)
A transnational event of the duration of 5 days to enrich the participants’ background through an international exchange experience, to better explore the topics of beekeeping and environmental sustainability.
  • The Development of an e-learning platform to provide flexible and accessible training materials on beekeeping.
  • A Research on best practices  to identify successful models for supporting migrant women in beekeeping.
