Il Comune di Palermo in collaborazione con H.R.Y.O. in occasione della visita di Sua Santità il Dalai Lama ha promosso un intervento pittorico sui New Jersey siti in Via Maqueda adiacenti a Piazza Verdi, al fine di lanciare un messaggio di pace e di benvenuto per la visita del Premio Nobel della Pace 1989, Tenzin Gyatso, già cittadino onorario della Città di Palermo dal 1996.
La Human Rights Youth Organization sin dalla sua nascita nel 2009 sostiene la causa tibetana, le pratiche non violente e la pace.
Durante questi anni diverse sono state le iniziative svolte con il governo tibetano e con le altre realtà vicine, al fine di sostenere e diffondere un messaggio non violento e di pace tipico della cultura tibetana.
La H.R.Y.O. ha fatto del messaggio non violento uno strumento delle proprie attività al fine di risolvere conflitti interiori ed esteriori.
A tal proposito è stata accolta con grande entusiasmo la proposta del Comune di Palermo, già promotore di iniziative in favore della visita del Dalai Lama, di dipingere attraverso messaggi di pace e sulla non violenza i blocchi di cemento armato New Jersey, siti nell’area pedonale di Via Maqueda in prossimità di Piazza Verdi, sinonimo della paura dilagante nei confronti del terrorismo, in modo da declinare positivamente i tristi eventi che al giorno d’oggi turbano la nostra società.
Tale momento diventerà quindi un modo simbolico per accogliere Sua Santità il Dalai Lama, già Cittadino Onorario Palermitano dal 1996 ad opera di Leoluca Orlando, richiamando il messaggio di gioia, non violenza e pace che sarà all’oggetto della sua conferenza.[:]
